Highlight

8:45-9:11
Alderwoman Fleming responds to a question about grocery stores as "reparations" and explains her 2017 campaign platform for "racial equity" which would be putting a grocery store in food deserts, something that is government responsibility.

9:11-9:26
Alderwoman Fleming: We start to blur the lines when we just talk about things the government SHOULD do and call that reparations.

Host: You can't say 'okay, this place doesn't have things that everybody else has so let's give it them and call it reparations. You can't do that.’

9:54-10:06
Alderwoman Fleming: If we don't start calling this stuff out, particularly on the government side, we just, as government keep doing stuff that we should be doing anyway and we pat ourselves on the back and applaud ourselves... Where really, we don't investigate why we weren't doing the things in the first place.
